Here it is, finally in it's rightful home. My knife arrived on Saturday, but I have been too busy to get an pics until now. the blade is made from 1095, carbon steel and is heat treat to 58-60 RC. It has Micarta scales with brass pins. It has been etched with a distressed look. I will be having a friend, who does leather work, make me a sheath for it.

Oh Jeremy, that is sweet !  I love that he did not over polish it and left it with a more primitive look, what steel is it??

Nice knife! Say something more about it - steel, hardness, dimensions, maker, will it have a sheath ......

Nice looking micarta, Billy.
I'm sure you'll put it to good use when it arrives.

Kiril - Actually, I am having it made for me. It is my first time having a custom made for me. Sounds like you know a thing or two about making them. I will put it to the test for sure.

Are you making it or someone else is making it for you?

My opinion is that the knife needs some holes in the tang to lighten the handle and to let the glue pass through the tang. Like this the glue will hold blade-to-scales and scale-to-scale and will be more reliable. Also the holes need a little chamfer (same reason - more glue - holds stronger). And before glueing the scales - scratch with sandpaper (I use angle grinder and a small disc) the tang. This will create bigger contact surface for the glue.

Ain't I annoying with this glue! :)
