Lovely color & neat story on how it got that way. I actually recall seeing it on Ebay, now that you mention it. If memory serves he had a few available that had been stored the same way. I've only got one to compare it to, but the spring on the 23 linerlock that I have isn't hard to open at all.
Yes, they are bone. However, they were originally yellow - banana yellow. Apparently the previous owner had stored this knife submerged in motor oil? Ergo, this beautiful shade of caramel brown. I got it for next to nothing in an ebay auction. I love the color! I'm not so big on the nail breaker back spring on this knife, though. It seems that #23's are known for having VERY strong back springs. Still a great knife...once you get it opened. *rolls eyes*

I dont know what he stored that in but it is drop dead Gorgeous
