Generally speaking, I'm quick to bust Case's chops. It's too bloody bad that their management won't respond to me. I'd certainly like an opportunity to let them know what I see...and the intent would be purely constructive. Oh well.

That said, I try to be as fair-and-balanced as possible...so when they do something "right", I make sure and say so. I really consider their Trapper Lock knife to be one of the very best designs of all-time. I love that it marries the old-school single-bladed trapper platform with some modern technological features (liner-lock and thumb-stud). They successfully merged these aspects into a blade that I thoroughly enjoy.

The Amber Jig Bone variant shown in this photo is probably my favorite Trapper Lock. The quality on it is definitely excellent...and it would eclipse that level if the shield were pinned on instead of glued. All the components are very well-fitted on this knife. The blade-opening (and closing) action is silky smooth. The liner-lock engages at the correct point. Everything is polished and finished "high and tight". I really wish that every Trapper Lock came out that well. Interestingly, this is one of the most affordable versions.

"The photos in the previous post are of an old German pruning type knife I just aquired. It surely is interesting, and quite old."
