Thank you Ron, those are things I should have thought to mention when I made that comment.  I know the quality of the AG time frame, we have a couple of them.  I do not think I have ever actually seen one from before his time

I think that folks are more familiar with their actual name of "Hen & Rooster?" Carl Bertram was the man behind the name and it was he who started Hen & Rooster back in 1845. Since he had been involved in the poultry business, naming the Company "Hen & Rooster" seemed like a natural.

Mister A.G. Russell held the name from 1975 to 1980 and lost it in a bankruptcy to Jim Frost who now owns the name. If you'll notice the name "Bertram" on my knife, that was from when Mr. A.G. owned H&R. Nowadays the tang stamp will read "Bertram Cutlery," and that's how you know it's a Frost H&R.

Mr. Russell was, and still is, passionate about his brief ownership of Hen & Rooster. That passion and pride is certainly reflected in the knives that were made during his tenure!

You know Bertram is a name a lot folks have to take a double look at.  Folks know it but don't see the knives often.  It is a manufacture I think everyone should own
