Hello Steve,this is a Puma fishing knife,the blade is etched with numbers and has a hole in it to hang your fish while the ball serve as a counter weight,this heavy ball also is used to kill the fish so it won't suffer too long.These knives are made in Germany and are very well made.Thank you Jean
