These knives are mine. I accumulate old historic wood. The wood is walnut and the British army stopped using walnut early in WW2. I suppose the butts are say upwards of seventy years old. Because of the drilled holes through the stock you do not get many knives out of a single butt. Currently I have some sgian dubhs in production using the same walnut. The sock dagger was carried in to battle by Scottish regiments. The sgian dubhs will be hand made. It's appropriate that sgian dubhs be with grips from Lee Enfield rifle butts I have just bought a quantity of 15th century oak and a sgian dubh w2ill also be made from that. The knives are on typenet.com and I am post@typenet.com regards Malcolm Carpenter

This is the sort of pattern that people all used to have when I was growing up , I must have had a stack of these in the past , though of course non were as special as this one .

Thanks for sharing Brian!     Nice Knife and a well thought out way to remember that terrible time in our history with the Lee-Enfield stock wood and a knife pattern that would have been popular in the same era. Any idea how many were made?  I just checked with our local J Nowill importer here in Aussie and they only have fixed blades.

Great looking knife! Good to see the history being preserved in such a fantastic way.

This was such an amazing build.  I remember when they bought the stocks but this is the first one I have seen with it.  Excellent piece of history by a good knife maker
