These strops often come with either a cloth element stuck to the back of the leather , or more often as this with two strops joined at the top , one leather and one hemp . The hemp is used after shaving to clean the edge and often before stropping on the leather to warm up the edge . The fabric is also said to be good for removing any sneaky bits of burr that may be left after using a stone .
