Steve this steel is made in Sweden they are making this steel available for export so that large companies can buy it and make their own products. So this is not made only for KAI but I speculate that KAI is one of their biggest cutlery client.

I don't think so Steve. Sandvik 14C28N is widely popular steel but for the price point is mostly used on a little bit higher priced knives.
