The Nerve first came out as the Blitz, but that name was already taken by a Benchmade model. So they changed it. This is a great little knife for EC or EDC purposes. The thumb plate is squared and has jimping on each side, so it acts as an ad hoc thumb stud. It's down close enough to the scales so as to allow for a traditional thumb flick deployment as with a thumb stud ( a lot of thumb plates/discs are too far away from the scales/handle that it makes a thumb flick inconvenient.) There is also good jimping on the spine scales at the blade and butt, as well as on the finger groove scales, which provide excellent purchase in forward or reverse grips. The machined patterning on the scales allow for good overall traction and purchase in the hand. Fits like a glove for the medium-sized hand. Another RJ Martin design, that is a winner for Kershaw, IMHO. Oh yeah, and under 40 bucks..... hard to beat. :)
