Yesterday this bayonet was given to me by a friend who knows that I collect knives and would appreciate this piece of military history. This particular bayonet has a 10" blade and is 14.5" overall. The manufacturer was PAL Blade & Tool Company. My friend's Uncle carried this bayonet in the South Pacific during WWII. Both the bayonet and the fiberglass M7 scabbard bear the flaming "U.S." bomb logo. (As a side note: The weapon that I was issued and qualified with in basic training--Circa 1963, Fort Ord, Ca.--was none other than the Caliber .30, M1 Garand Rifle)

Yep. According to the gentleman who gifted this old M1 bayonet to me it was carried by his uncle who was a Marine in the South Pacific theater during WWII. I don't know the specific islands his uncle saw action in, though? I do know that the Marines were in some pretty lengthy and intense battles throughout the entire South Pacific. There was some very ugly warfare going on! Bless all those guys who served in that war. Both in the Pacific and in Europe. Their ranks are growing thinner by the day.

Nice piece of history. This knife was carried through battlefield? Unbelievable.

Steve, Take a look at the size comparison I just posted of the Buck 120 and the M1 Bayonet. Two Big Boys, fersure!
