its not plastic, im not really sure..the grooves are deep,with the glitter in the bottom of the grooves..then the handle looks like it made of clear {like valspar} poured or molded over the glitter and groove material.really pretty still...with no "pull away" from the bolsters.. its called (7c glitterstripe) handle material
