I have never used it.  It should be alright for light cutting.  I don't know how it would hold up to heavy cutting.  The only metal on it is the blade, the metal band around the nose, and the rivet/pivot pin.  The handle is all wood with no liner or spring.  It doesn't lock open.  The nose is clamped fairly tightly around the blade so you have to put pressure on it to open or close it.  It will not just fall shut or open on you.  There are larger versions and versions that lock open.

It is very light weight, wouldn't weight your pocket down.  I don't know what kind of wood it is made of.
