Osage is a very tough wood, our experience has been a deeper richer brown.

With some of the smaller sections

the intent is to remove the pithy center

and use with a hidden tang blade. 

I believe that has potential !!!

Any wood will change color with exposure to sunlight. I'm just curious to see what the slabs will look like once you make your horizontal cuts. I'll bet that grain is absolutely gorgeous and will probably fare quite well once it sees some sunlight. It will most certainly darken.

Years ago I sold and installed hardwood flooring. People would come into our showroom and look at the samples that had been exposed to sunlight for several years and they would choose a color they liked. Naturally the new wood that we would install would never look exactly like the sample and the customer would complain or wonder why. That's just the nature of the beast. Wood changes color! But usually for the better, in my opinion.

@ Max ... finding conflicting info on that one. All seem to agree that color darkens w/ UV exposure .. some report deeper orange .. others, deep rich brown. 

I got it because ..cured.. it's suppose to be quite hard. The hatchet I used has the head of an original Marble's Safety Axe .. and it was sharp .. still took 15 min + to remove the limb. The outer (white) portion wasn't so bad. The darker area was .. TOUGH !!!

This limb is ~ 22 yrs old. The center is pithy .. the rest of it is suppose to end up just harder than nails :)
