I guess I could explain my cost and time. lol   The leather for the sheath came from work. It was free, because it was scrap. The thread I used on the sheath $8.99 for 284 yrds. and I didn't use much. The aluminum slug I used, to tighten the set screw against, was also from a scrap pc. I had in the garage. The paint and stain was pretty minimal in cost, because I didn't use much of either. All of the time was spent in dis-assembly of the hawk, sanding it, staining it, painting and making the aluminum slug. the other half of the time was spent in making the sheath and only a about 10 minutes in putting the 3 coats of of olive oil on it. Time well spent, I believe.

I sure can Jan. I have approximately $1 in materials and about 3 hrs. of time.

Jeremy,

This truly took a nice hawk and made it much more usable and attractive.  Can you give us a ball park in the time and $ invested in the rebuild?

Thanks Leo. I really enjoyed working on the hawk and making the sheath. Going to have to do some more projects like this one.

Thanks Tim. I bought the hawk a while back and have been modifying it to my liking. The latest addition is the hand made sheath. I have been wanting to try my hand at leather work and figured this was the perfect opportunity.

Thank you Jan.
