The story here is that Dad ditched in the ocean while attempting a carrier landing and broke the pommel exiting the aircraft. Don't know if the broken pommel came from this or not but I do have the photos of the aircraft "ditching" off the carrier.

Thanks folks.

Dad was definatly not a knife collector.  He left me with this one, and the Pal RH-36, from his Navy days.

Nice knife. I'm sure you know it but the 6" pilot's survival knife was developed by the Navy in 1957 and shorted in 1962. The sheath is in excellent condition also. Very collectable.

Great story and knife, that's the most valuable knife you own. Thanks for telling us about it.

This picture makes me smile everytime I come across it JJ.  What a wonderful story to go with the items.  It must have been something to hear him tell the tale
