Here is another small front opening tab gent's folder by Phil Tham. It features a 2.5" CPM-154 wharncliffe blade, dyed silky oak scales, and stainless steel bolsters.

On a sad note, I just learned that Phil is not making knives anymore.  So, the three I have will remain special to me.

Yup... and it sure is purdy.  To me it almost has a grain like sycamore.  Lots of nice wood comes from Australia (and I have knives outfitted various Australian woods) .... york gum, gimlet, and gidgee, to name a few.

Silky Oak is Australian it seems , guess that's why I hadn't heard of it ,

As you say Dennis that wood is something special , I haven't heard of it before . When I first saw it I thought it was some fancy Micarta until I read your description , I will have to look up silky oak .

Truth be told ... bought this one for the wood alone.  However, after receiving it, started to appreciate everything from the blade grind to the fit and finish.
