One of the things that is perhaps an outgrowth of Queen's history of private label manufacturing (making knives sold under other companies' brands) is their own product line extension. In addition to making knives under the Queen and Schatt & Morgan brands, they have also sold knives under the brands of Queen City Cutlery and Titusville Cutlery. Shown here is a large English Jack...produced under the Queen City brand. The quality of this knife is fantastic...with one minor flaw. This flaw seems to plague Queen...from several eras...and that is that the handle scales and liners don't sit "flat and tight" together. Basically, if you hold the knife up...with it's backsprings facing you (the underside of the knife) you can see daylight creeping through. In this case, the gaping is very slight. For whatever reason, the worst gaping that I've seen in Queen knives seems to be on the ones with stag handle scales. It's a shame too...because if it weren't for things like that, Queen's quality could rival that of GEC's. As it, I'd call their quality a "second best". Frankly, if Case knives had the walk-and-talk of Queen's knives, Case would certainly take the number two spot.
