Thank you very much Bob, all I can do is keep trying really :-)
That is one nice blade, a really fine looker and I know a great user if the task is there! You continue to ramp up your craft in the finest manner Alexander!
No problemo Ron, and thanks. Yeah, this could definately function as more than a wallhanger :-)
Thanks again, Alex! That definitely answers my question and would serve to make this knife more than just a pretty face. You've created a real masterpiece, my friend - Kudos!
Good question Ron. And you're completely right. The tang on this rasp is fairly limited. That's why I ground out part of the cutting porting of the rasp in order to make a longer tang. So the tang goes all the way through the handle and out the other end into the pommel.
In other words.....this rasp is so big that I didn't even use the whole cutting edge of the thing for the blade. A part of the cutting portion is under the handle. I think over 3 inches of it in fact.
Thanks, Alex!
I do have a question about the tang on this knife. Knowing how most files have a fairly limited length to their tangs, did you do anything to increase the length of the tang on this enormous knife? e.g., weld a length of steel? (and forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid question)
Hey Ron, overall length is around 16.5 inches
That's a real good looking knife, Alex! What's the overall length of that bad boy?
