Mark, yes it is pretty beat up, here is a pic...

That's a super rare New England knife. That tortoiseshell one used to be mine, I think -- it's a 5 blade, right? Pretty beat up?

I had an Uncle Bob Riggs knife once too -- but it wasn't in very good shape either. Still a cool knife.

Haven't found any relationship yet. It would be kinda neat though..

Greg,

What a great history of Riggs, are any of you related?

There have been 3 RIGGS' that I know of in the knife business besides myself.

1st was Ebenezer Dewitt Riggs, New Haven Connecticut. c1864-1874.

The above knife is his as well as the little 5 bladed tortoise shell that I have mentioned before.

He also worked with Alexander Haugh prior to 1864 as Haugh & Riggs.

2nd was George P Riggs who filed for a patent on a folding hunting knife on Sept. 26, 1908.

I haven't seen any of these knives.... yet.

3rd was "Uncle Bob Riggs" who made fighting knives during WWII in Washington State.

I have seen some of his knives.

and then myself. This is my copy of "Uncle Bob's" fighting knife
