Vintage Sabre Monarch 152 Stag Bowie

This is a Sabre Monarch model 152 "Original Bowie" hunting knife, with its iconic stag handle.

Sabre and Monarch were brand names used by Cole National of Cleveland, Ohio throughout the 60's and early 70's. Sabre Monarch was their "mid-grade" line of stag handled hunting knives.

Cole National contracted many knife manufactures in West Germany, Great Britain, and Japan to produce their knives and imported them under names like American Knife Company. This one was made in Solingen, Germany. The most commonly found examples of this knife are those which were produced in Japan. While not necessarily rare, the Solingen made Sabre Monarch knives are relatively scarce.

The blade is 6" long and has an overall length of 10 1/4".

This knife sold in December, 2012 for $43.50
