Randall, I think it is as ground. It definitely is not polished smooth. So would that be normal?
Is that a as ground blade some soddies have those and will look different than the tang.
so you think the tang was not tempered? wonder how that could be?
Nice one Charles
Hey Max, nothing to be sorry about. I appreciate your input. I plan on sending it back to exchange it. I will have to wait til Monday to call to get an RMA number.
Charles, I thought I'd read on the Case Forum that the different hardnesses can cause some discoloration like that ...but I just searched every key word I could think of over there and found nothing of the sort talked about. I looked at the Two Soddies I could easily get two and both looked better than that....
So my conclusion is, it's not Normal. I would at least call or send it back and find out.
Also, Sorry to speak out of turn when I can't back it up... so I guess I remember things wrong. Next time I'll check my facts FIRST!
Again Sorry.
Max, are you saying that is normal? I was thinking about sending it back. If it was going to be a user, I wouldn't worry about it. But I was planning on putting it in my collection. I would like to be able to call it mint.
I believe the tang itself isn't hardened like the blade that's why there is a difference in color and doesn't polish like the blade.
I put some Coon P on it to see if it would rub off. It wouldn't.
No, it isn't the light or angle. It is actually dark like that.
