Ken, your wife being scared of the road reminds me of one of our trips to Colorado.  When I was planning the trip, the name of a road I found told me I had to take it.  It was Oh My God Road!  It runs from Idaho Springs to Central City over the mountains.  It tops out over 9,300 feet.  No pavement, no guard rails.  Wife was scared.  I loved it!

Nice knife, I too like Louis Lamour and I have all his books in leatherbound editions.

When we visited it, it was a rough winding road, my wife was scared all the way up. But it was worth it. That was in May, there was snow in Yellowstone but the road was clear of snow when we went up.

Ken, I was going to visit the Medicine Wheel on one of my trips out west.  But when we got there, the road leading to the Medicine Wheel from the highway was still blocked by snow.  That was in June.

Charles, The Medicine Wheel was mentioned in "Bendigo Shafter".

Sounds just like me Charles, I have visited many places out west mentioned in his books also. One of the best was "The Medicine Wheel" in Wyoming.

Louis L'Amour is my favorite author also.  I don't have all his books but have read all of them.  And like you Ken, I read them over and over.  There are five volumes to this set.  I have three of them.  I would like to get the other two.

I especially like his western stories.  In my vacations out west I have been to many of the places in his stories.  When reading them I can picture myself back out west enjoying the scenery.
