The 1873 Winchester depicted on the box is the 20 inch barreled carbine while the shield on the knife is the 24 inch barreled rifle version of the 1873 Winchester. My personal '73 Winchester is the rifle version with the 24 inch octagonal barrel. The way to tell the difference between the carbine and the rifle (other than the barrel length) is that the carbine had a barrel band and the rifle had a fore end cap.
