For those that haven't heard of Rucarta...AG Russell couldn't use the name micarta as it was a trademarked name at the time. He had his own made and and since he couldn't use f MY carta he named it for RUssells  carta ...or Rucarta. I read that in a post that AG made on another forum.

Paul,

Schrade never had a plant in Pennsylvania. Before the 2004 bankruptcy they were located in Ellenville N.Y. which is where this knife was made. Now, George Schrade was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on Feb. 13,1860. As for when you use a Bowie, the Bowie has a reputation more as a fighting knife than a hunting knife.

Nice.  I wonder when you use a drop point hunting knife and when you use a Bowie?  This may have been made made in the Schrade Plant in Pennsylvania before they closed....
