oldknife found in 70's with metal detector

I found this when I was a kid with my old Heat Kit metal detector along the Minnesota River. How would I find out anything about it? Thanks. This is a cool site.

looks more like a tine for a piece of farm machinery ......but then again, I am not well versed in primatives!!

Doug,

I can tell you it appears hand forged and unfinished, like what is called an old blacksmiths knife.  They didnt worry to much with handles or anything.  The just needed something to cut with
