Spyderco's Manix 2 design is one of my favorite knife platforms of all-time. I try hard to pick up every variant that I can...and when I heard about the version with Translucent Blue handle scales, I knew that it needed to be a part of my collection. And so here it is! Some interesting things about this knife:

* There are no steel liners. This makes the knife super lightweight (both in how much it weights and what we could use it for). Without the steel liners, this knife feels particularly...plasticky.
* It features Carpenter's Steel BD-1. As of yet, I don't know much of anything about this. I can tell you that...in terms of aesthetic...it looks very different from every other steel that I've ever had. Spyderco did a great job of finishing this blade and there are no visible grind lines or machining marks. In that specific regard, this may be the cleanest knife of it's kind that I have ever seen.
* The knife handles are pinned together instead of being held together with screws. The only other pinned Spyderco knife that I own is my Centofante 3...and I've never had problems with it...but, frankly, that's a smaller knife and I've never used it for anything but light-duty EDC. On both the Centofante 3 and this Manix, I don't like that you can't adjust the blade's pivot. Fortunately, the blade centering on both knives is "perfect".
