Indeed Ron, I've left the thumb rest smooth. I prefer a contoured smooth finish across the entirety of the knife .. hence the handle shape. 

However, it would be easy enough to put them in with a needle file right after doing the lg radius & before the final sanding. i.e. I used 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper .. removes any burrs, flat spots,  & shines everything up right nice.

I can see how you reduced the swedge considerably and contoured the thumb rest. I had asked a couple of pics back if there was any gimping on the thumb rest. I will presume now that it is smooth? The etching turned out nice.

The grind for the thumb rest ...

The much tighter radius grind introduced @ the base of the cutting edge ...

The removal of material along the spine ...

... are all evident here.
