i bought this knife in 1981 and took it camping and fishing for years and years but.....                                              one day the sheath dropped off the boat and sank   so i replaced the knife for something new ( good excuse right ? )

the smith ended up in the attic in a box with old angling stuff  untill 6 years ago when i moved to a new house and i found the box again                                                                                                                                                 so i cleaned and resharpened the old friend and now its standby in my studio for all kind of things ( mostly food related )

in the article "the knives of smith & wesson" that i found in the "box full of knives" group i saw that it is called "large upsweap" from  the  "american series"

i must say it was (is) a great knife in use as i abused it for many years and it is still in very good condition              i liked the narrow and thin blade for use as a fishing knife   and it is still very usefull                                           now i am planning a new sheath for it ( in time )......  we will see
