LOL, Paul, it showed no signs of wear at all

Jan you are correct. The knife is new ,how did you know? The hoof blade is actually a very strong lock when used closed and the spear blade open. These are rare. I just sold it in the box for $28.00 which was way cheap.

Jan, I believe you're right. It looks like a farrier's knife which is used to clean a horse's hoof. That's my hunch, anyway.

This knife is a 1984 issue Parker Cutlery Packrat pattern (model 703), 3" closed. This knife features the Genuine Smooth Appaloosa Bone (cattle bone) scales. Knife is etched with Packrat.
The master Spear blade is etched with "Packrat" and tang stamped with Parker Cut. Co. and the trademarked Parker Eagle. The rear is tang stamped Surgical Steel Japan. The knife has never been used.
The opposite Hoof blade actually serves as the cover for the master Spear blade when the Spear blade is closed into the frame.

And might I add, one cool knife!

Maybe a horse hoof cleaner?

I used to smoke a pipe Leo and had plenty of pipe knives but none that looked like this. I am sure glad someone else is in the dark about it Charles.
