Late last month, saw Vincenzo post a pic of a Native tail lock that I really …. really liked. I asked him to make me a similar one, with only some minor differences. Turned out great! Scales are pre-ban elephant ivory, bolsters are blue Italian lira micarta and the 2.75" blade is RWL34. So now, two of Vincenzo’s tail locks grace my collection!

Thanks JJ.  The one I had seen Vincenzo make last month had a 440C blade and a shield centered over the bolster/scale line.  Asked him to make mine with RWL34 and no shield (to make for a cleaner transition from bolsters to scales.  AND .... when I asked him to use ivory for the scale material, I had no idea he was using elephant!  A big win for me there!!!!   He also sent me the paperwork showing the examination of the original tusk and certifying that it was pre-ban.

That's stunning.

Thanks Jan ... and ... if you didn't notice, Bob Loveless was kind of the catalyst in Damasteel developing RWL34 ... and they named it after Bob ... hence the designation RWL34 (with the 34 naturally derived from ATS34).  Really like the steel and have a few knives made with it.

Stunning does not even begin to describe this knife Dennis!  I had to look up the steel but WOW, I understand this stuff is sold by the inch!

Created using the latest generation powder metal technology, RWL34 is exceptionally clean and achieves a mirror finish with more ease than other stainless steels. Similar in alloy to ATS-34 and CPM-154 with the advantages of the RSP process.
