The tang stamp on this knife would indicate that it was made between 1965 and 1977. I believe that the scales are Jigged Imitation Bone (Delrin). They could be Genuine Bone, however? Even after a really close, careful inspection I am still not sure, though? Regardless, they are beautiful!

Hi, Steve!

Thanks! In one of the pictures I posted you can see the serial number stamped on the tang: 642214. And, like you just mentioned, the first number, the 6, denotes the handle material which is as follows:

6 = Genuine Bone, Jigged Rough Black Plastic, Jigged Delrin Imitation Bone (This comes from the information compiled and done by Charlie Noyes and found on his most informative website: Robeson Knives )

So you see it can be quite a guessing game when you are attempting to distinguish between imitation bone and genuine bone. In this case I think we can definitely rule out "Rough Black Plastic." lol

Thanks again for the help! And, like I mentioned in the description for this knife, it really doesn't matter to me since I'm not trying to sell this Scout. Whatever it is is perfect with no cracks or chips and I think it's also quite pretty!

Cheers, my friend!
