Vintage Stag Handled Gutmann Whittler by Bertram Hen & Rooster (Top or Left) c.1960's and a Weidmannsheil Whittler probably assembled in the 1990's by Olbertz Factory for distribution by Jim Parker. Both knives were made in Solingen, Germany.

Thanks for the comments, guys. These two knives are very special because of their size and also because of their superb construction. At approximately 3" each they are very small knives. But they are perfectly sized for fine detail work.

The little Gutmann is another fine example of the work that came out of the old Hen & Rooster factory. Known for their full flat grinds those German craftsmen really knew how to work that Solingen steel into a highly efficient cutting tools. All 3 blades on the Gutmann maintain their original factory edges and are still straight razor sharp! That's amazing considering that the knife is over 50 years old!

The Weidmannsheil is another exquisite testament to German craftsmanship. It's a little chunkier than the Gutmann and sports thicker stag scales as well as beefier bolsters. When held in my hand it almost seems like pocket jewelry. They both do, actually. In addition to the match striker nail pulls the Weidmannsheil also boasts half stops on both of the secondary pen and coping blades.

Fit and finish on both of these knives is first rate! They are both quite beautiful!

And, J.J., here's a comparison pic to better illustrate the size difference between these two knives and one of your favorites, the Case Seahorse...
