Just in is the GEC 38 English Whittler in bloodwood. Might be blasphemy to say ... coming from someone who loves the Case Seahorse Whittler ... but this knife is everything that the seahorse should be!!!

David, as I mentioned ... these (including the Northfield version) were pretty much reserved before they were released.  The ones that actually made it to the for sale lists of retailers were snapped up almost immediately.  So, only place to find them would be on the secondary market (of knife forums and, of course ... Ebay).  But, unless you know someone willing to work with you, prices will be very high.

Thanks Tim .... I also just got word that I'll be getting one of the Northfield versions in jigged bone (at cost ... no secondary market price gouging) from a knife friend.  Can't wait!!

Might be blasphemy, but your pic makes that one look like a million bucks. I have a Grinling which is one of my all time favorites, but managed to get a Bloodwood also at none secondary prices. Waiting to compare it to the Grinling which has superb craftsmanship. Seahorse, Grinling, or English Whittler; the pattern is just the best.

Congrats Dennis

At this point David, probably nowhere besides the secondary market (for outrageously inflated prices!)  Got this one at Collector Knives (via Mike's early reserve program).  I was fortunate enough to catch his notification when these were added and got to his site quick enough to snag a reservation.

Where do you get it

Pretty close to the seahorse, J.J..  By my measurements, it is just a hair shorter with a closed length of 3 3/4 vs 3 7/8 for the seahorse.  Blades are about the same length as well.  Overall fit and finish is great ... even grind on the blade edges ... no burrs.  I was fortunate enough to get on a pre-order for this one.  As far as I can tell, the ones not allocated to pre-orders were snapped up very quickly and I see them now going for 2 - 2+ what I paid.  Believe they are producing the Northfield version now, which will have jigged bone covers.

What's the length on this beauty, Dennis?
