Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Part of the knife collection I bought over the weekend. Lots of beautiful Stag case knives with a few Red bone XX, Hen and Roosters and Cattaraugus adding some variety.

Wow Creig, I didn't know you owned a store. That's great, you can spread the word a little bit it won't hurt. We have alot of knife store owners in the club. We are glad to have another one. I checked it out, and it looks great. I'll visit again when I have more time. I like that name "Sage Town", real neat.

Way to go Creig. My wife would skin me alive for doing that, but I'm not trying to sell either. I just seem to buy too many. I really need to get rid of some of my lower value knives, which are mostly imports. My USA and German knives are keepers.

if you got the money to do it that way thats the way to go if you want to make money off them.but as for me i don't have the money to buy them like that so i'm like robert i look around and find one i really like than i research it and if it has good reviews than i see were i can get the best price than buy it.but i'm sure it is different when your running a store to sell them.really nice collection there.

Well Robert, I like both ways of buying knives, by the piece or by the entire collection.

The group I bought over the weekend contained a total of 43 knives which consisted of 30 Mint Case XX stag handled knives, 4 Case XX red bones, 4 Stag handled Hen & Roosters, 2 Cattaraugus, 3 newer (post 1980) Case XX. Sure I have to spend a few grand on a collection but I get them for a better price that way. I always take the time to look at every knife in the collection, establish a value, then make an offer on the lot. That way I can still make a few bucks and also give better deals to my customers.

I keep about 2000 antique knives in stock at my store at any given time. If I add one or two new items hardley anyone notices them. If I add  30-40 knives, everybody notices them. Sure they'll cherry pick the best knives first but what I dont sell quickly I end up with much less money invested. I may end up with a handful of knives worth $40 or $50 dollars each but by that time I'll only have $20 or so in each. Plus I get a couple of days of playing with new toys and deciding which one I want to keep for myself before I sell them, so it satisfies the collector in me as well.

Buying a whole collection at one time is great but seems to take some of the fun out of looking, bidding well just the over all hunt for each knife. I'm not against buying collections, I'm just not sure if it's as much fun as buying one at a time. I have never bought a collection so I maybe all wet with my veiws. Great collection though, good luck with them.
