There are just some designs that I prefer the original configuration of and the victorinox series is one of them.  I see these knives as extremely useful and I can imagine having them in your day pack, they could hold their own in the woods.

one of the last models created by wenger was the ranger

i got one years ago and was quite pleased with it  ...  when victorinox took over the wenger factory in 2005 they upgraded the ranger (and all other wenger models) to the highest victorinox standards and they were called "delémont series"   ( this is the city where the wenger factory was and still is )

the ranger wood 55 is a luxe version with a walnut handle                                                                                       the Original wenger ranger "grip"is nice but this rubber grip is also a bit vulnarable ( as you can see )

the wood version can not be opened with one hand but for a knife like this i dont mind ...
