The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
It's not often that I'm at a loss for words.
I've been thinking about this years Anniversary Blog for some time now, What will I add this year, what theme will we go after, etc.
I about had it narrowed down, and had Ms. Jan pegged to do a group letter; Then along came Robert Burris' Blog Post "What is iKnifeCollector".
Those three words changed the perspective of this years post. It's not important that we have almost 54,000 photographs; well over 800 videos; almost 950 Blog Posts and nearly 1400 discussions going on; it's something more.
Reading the answers to Roberts question, the words "Friends" and " Family" are prominent. Apparently, it affected Ms. Jan in the same manner. We've done a lot, in these 5 years, but the greatest thing seems to be the "Personal" touch.
Welcome, Again, to everyone here at iKC. We're glad you're here.
Here's the letter that Jan sent out...
Robert Burris recently asked WHAT IS iKNIFECOLLECTOR?
iKC for me is the place where all are knives and thier owners are welcome.
It is where we get to learn about our hobby, see knives we would not see elsewhere. It is where we get to speak directly with the manufactures and makers.
It is where we encourage those that want to try thier hand at making and those that have just gotten bit by the collectors bug.
Since becoming involved with iKC I have met folks that will remain friends for life.
I have learned more about knives from around the world than I had ever previously thought I would know. I have learned more about the process of making a knife then I dreamed I would know. I have even learned to sharpen a knife (OK, I still have alot to learn on that one)
I have learned a great respect for the men and women that make this hobby possible.
Most of all, what I have learned is that given the opportunity to grow, treat each other with respect and have some fun with friends while enjoying this hobby is invaluable.
The environment here is fostered and encouraged by not only our collectors but also by our sponsors. For each new member that joins and becomes active, we have made a friend.
iKC is a place of joy and John McCain made a statement that rings true, I will add a small bit to it.
Friendship and genuine interest in each others lives and collections, always on tap
The members are what make this site what it is, I am extremely proud to be one!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY iKC
Jan
I guess There's not much more to add to that, other than "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY".

Ken, I know what you mean. I use to be an isolated knife collector, with no one to talk to about my hobby, until IKC came along. I now have plenty of friends to talk to. Bless Ya'll.
I can just say, i agree with everything that has been said. IKC has been a life changer for me, an addiction that I don't want to give up, a daily get away, a hobby on top of a hobby. and a real joy to belong to. Thanks IKC and to all the many friends on this site. God Bless you all.
