Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

As we get deeper into the year I want to start having some thoughts in place for the 2012 iKC knife.  I have 2 immediate questions

1) Fixed or Folder?

2) materials?

Let me know what ya'll think.  I would like to have some ideas in place around the time of the Blade Show (you know the manufactures can't get away from us there LOL)

I'd like to see a nicer IKC shield though. The one we had for the 2011 knives was kind of plain.

Thank you all for the ideas so far, please keep them coming.  So far I am seeing

pocketknife

natural material

and less than $120

IKC shield

If we're going the Calf Roper way.....why not make it a cattle baron? That'll give the added punch as well. I'd love that.

For those of us who do not currently own a #66, or have never seen one, here is a pic.

The knife in my head would have everything this knife does, except for natural bone scales and an IKC shield. It would also be a good legal size for those of us overseas.

I'm as biased as it gets when we get to the subject of pocket knives. So everybody knows I want GEC.

I am not a stockman guy, but here is what I am thinking.

A #66 Calf Roper with blades swedges and long pulls. The scales could be a whole host of different materials, I would be happy with anything. But, some smooth natural bone scales would really do it for me. It would be a very classy, but very simple pocket knife.

Geppetto is mighty pocketable...

Just realised.....what I'd LOVE is either a GEC EZ Open (in most any configuration) or a GEC Toothpick/Powderhorn in almost any configuration.

Hello Jan, I would agree with what Alex Noot wrote. Preferably a pocket knife, that can be worn on a belt or in a pocket , slip joint, lock back or multiblade with natural handle material. Made in The USA or Solingen, Germany... The price should not be too high, so I would say in the 80-120 USD range. Would be nice if the knives were numbered... Maybe I will think of some other specifics for a iKC knife..

For me it must be pocketable. So a massive knife is out of order.

Folder: slipjoint, multiblade for me. Made by Either Queen, GEC or A.G. Russell. Price <$120 preferably.

Fixed blade: something like the small fixed blades that Don Cowles makes (he also has production versions that are VERY nice) only please with the option of left handed sheaths.

Materials....no plastics (acryl)or Glass fibers (G-10) or Carbon fibre. Micarta acceptable though.

Steel? I'm no so worried. preferably 440C or better if it's stainless (although 8Cr13Mov is somewhat acceptable) and if it's a carbon steel just something with good heat treatment. Damascus is always cool but is often too expensive.
