Bolsters, there are so many different kinds and types of materials. I was wondering if some of you had favorites.

Well in my view there are different things that are sometimes referred to as bolsters.

Some are Guards....which prevent the fingers from sliding up the knife. Most combat knives and most bowies have these.

Then there are Bolsters which are usually done on slipjoints. I like both. Any kind really as long as they're welldone.

Great discussion and I certainly like Johns Bolsters.  Mostly with Bolsters I am more particular with fit and finish than material.  i dont like bolsters on a fixed blade that seem out of proportion with the knife.  On a folder I prefer it to have some style, not so much engraving but style.. Long bolsters, slanted, rat tail, ringed...love em all

My version of a stacked handle- a stacked bolster-nickel/brass/copper/brass/nickel with black vulcanized spacers in between-Brick red vulcanized spacer and amber spacer after that-amber/brass pins
