Colonial Knife company exterior factory..2010..

Well after Colonial's closing in 1998, the majority of the factory still stands. Even with local "Thugs" burning and trashing certain area's,  the factory still remains an eyesore and is terribly sad to see....

I have several shots of the exterior building that I'd like to share with all....these pictures were taken in the beginning stages of writing my book years ago..

I'll take one at a time to explain what interior places are shown on the exterior photo's..

The first shot is the front gate with the front of the building in the background....the shipping room is at the far left. The new offices and steel stockroom, first floor,  were in the white building to the far right....The two story brick stucture next to the shipping room was the only building there when the brothers bought the property... The middle structure with the shipping ramp directly ahead, was the press room and the brick second floor in the rear was the tool room....

Hey folks..

Here is another shot from the north corner, heading west....the bottom window's show the tubbing room, but the very bottom of the window was actually high against the 9 foot ceiling down in that room. So really that sidewalk was above our heads in the tubbing room...!!

One floor up into the red brick upper level was the assembly room and my bench was right behind the third window, and next to my bench was a wall, front entrance to the assembly room and on that wall housed the recieving end a of enormous "Fire Door" that we struggled to close evey night!

History still stands in Providence...

RAP ....(am I planning a trip inside the old factory??)

Apparently, the trick is, you have to be "too big to fail", like GM, Chrysler and some banks.
