Have you ever been asked about one of the knives you were carrying or one of the knives in your collection? When the person asked you were you excited to answer their question but ended up explaining a lot more than they were actually asking?

Well I am very guilty of this. I love when people ask me about my knives because it gives me a chance to talk to someone about them. It is rare to find someone who shares the same passion for knives that you do and can actually talk to them in person, at least without going to a dedicated knife event. I find myself talking about more than was actually asked of me when answering someone's question.

My father is an engineer and I always like asking him questions about his job and I find that he tends to do the same thing as me when answering a question. He once told me "never ask an engineer to explain something because they will". I think it is quite funny because I think this goes for all the knife nuts out there... "never ask a knife nut to explain something because they will!"

Whenever I feel the need for a good knife talk I go to my local knife shop. I love talking to the people there and learning about all the new knives and techniques that are out there.

What do you guy/gals do when someone asks about your blade?

"Carry a blade everyday to keep the doctor away"

Guilty as charged! Although, lately I've been getting better about asking first, "Are you asking because you think I'm a little nuts for carrying a knife, or because you genuinely want to know about it?" They usually leave before I finish...

our local knife shop has become our outlet when we need to get our knife addiction some attention. We are such good friends that they give us a discount every time! They are even willing to let us do knife reviews over their own personal knives!

it's so scary how much we are alike keelen.

I confess, I fall into this too, along with any discussion about guns or *ahem* cats. I had to through that out there.

I'll usually tell them too much also. But that's the way it is with most of us, I guess.

I ask them questions about what they are interested in before I answer. That way, after I sincerely and actively listen to them, then they will listen to me :)

You have come to the right place cause we like to hear good knife stories. Thanks.
