Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

New Blood in the fold, a brief hello...

Howdy folks, wanted to first say thank you to those of you who sent me warm welcoming wishes on my page here, so thank you folks. My name is Michael, I'm a 50 year old dude from Philadelphia who has been into collecting swords and daggers for over 40 years and just recently switched over to collecting folding and fixed blade knives because I have run out of room to store swords and larger blades in my house. I started collecting just a month ago, with a few inexpensive folders from Amazon (CRKT, Kershaw and Spyderco) and got a Chris Reeve Sebenza 25 for my 50th birthday on the 9th of this month as my first higher end blade. I'm disabled and since I'm no disability I don't expect to be able to afford too many high end blades but there are plenty of inexpensive options available to keep me interested. My next major investment is either going to be the Lion Steel SR1 in red alu or the 0801 from Zero Tolerance (Any suggestions as to which I should get first?) Been following a lot of people on YouTube (maybe some of you guys, I dunno) and getting tons of information from those. Keep hearing them talk about things "on the forums" but nobody says WHICH forums they mean so I just Google and this was the first one that popped up and being a Ning site I'm familiar with the format since I've run Ning sites in the past. Switched over to SocialGo recently, since Ning scrapped a lot of features I needed. But this site looks quite nice and I hope to be an active participant. Maybe I'll make a video greeting soon. Sure to scare all the women and children right off the site. :)

Warmest Regards,

Michael

Thanks Steve, I have a love-hate relationship with Spyderco, hate what they look like but love how they feel and perform. They're a good knife that suffers from bowling shoe syndrome IMHO. :)

I am not a big Spyderco fan myself, but I do love my ZT's. I would take the Zero Tolerance over a Spyderco any day of the week. Great high end knives...and Kershaw knives ain't bad either, for the price and selection and quality. Glad to have you with us!

If I could get to my main computer I could whip up some nice graphics, unfortunately since I lost my left foot I've not been able to get to that machine and am stuck in a recliner with an all in one machine and a keyboard on my leg. :) I hope to make some kind of video tonight if I can find the camera. The webcam on this thing shoots at the wall and would make for a dull video. :)

Glad to have you here Michael.  You made the right choice.  Whatever you collect there will be somebody else here who collects it to.

Get the one that tugs at your heart the most.

Personally, I would go after the ZT 0801 first. I recently traded away a Spyderco LionSpy because the blade shape and pocket clip were not to my liking.
