Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

This is a story about a man with no name.

He was born into this world without a name, without a face. Here's his picture.

No but seriously.

I've noticed a few folks not using their actual names or using a picture of them.

As much as we liked to keep ourselves hidden from others on the World Wide Web, I think here, at this community, there should be an exception. This site isn’t just another random site with people we don’t know.

This site is a community.

This is where people who share common interests get together. This is, as Scott King sees, the next generation of a knife collecting community. We, now, don’t have to travel far away to Blade Shows to see people who have these common interests.

Thus, as such, we neither use screen names to address those that we meet there. We can’t relate to people who are called “youtubeman” or an assortment of letters and numbers. We can’t relate to people whose faces are that of a helicopter or that of a logo.

Even worse, I easily forget people that I meet a Blade Shows. However, this community here has truly created an environment where knife fanatics from everywhere can get together and discuss about knives or whatever the interest may be at the time. Best of all, it isn’t one, two, or three days where we might just happen to see the person we met just yesterday to discuss knives, but the entire week, the month, and even longer. This place has created many friendships that will last.

However, it just seems wrong to actually never know the person's name or what they look like. Also the vast majority of people in this community have already decided to use their real names and provide an image of who they are. I personally feel it would be rude and disrespectful to those who have decided to do so.

However, I can understand that some folks want to gain recognition from their screen name on another forum or from a YouTube account. Though, why not add that “nickname” to your real name: Tom Cai (Sharp). In that respect, those from the vast number of forums or youtubers will know who you are.

I also want to remind you that as this small community grows larger and larger into a town, a city, etc., we should do as much as possible to keep the closest connection to those that we already have made friends to.

Therefore, I hope those who have not used their full real names, first and last, to take the time and change it for the better of this community. It would also be nice for those to change their profile picture to one of the user.

Thus, FORWARD WE MUST GO!!!!

Thank you

Tom C.

HEY! That's an ACTUAL PHOTO of me. It's my real face, and it's the way I dress. And, I can jump, too. But I REALLY have to have a good reason!

...

Well, while I agree with some of the things you said, I haven't gotten the means to take a good photo of myself, as I do not have a respectable camera.

And I choose not to use my last name because it can be quite easy to disturb someones privacy simply with their last name.

So for my privacy, I choose not to use my last name, this is perference and does not hurt nor help the community.

But as for a picture... I am not active here, so I tend to forget, I am getting around to it, though, believe me.

And from the looks of it, tonight, you dont have to look too far to find me either.

"iKC is in actually about the people, as collectors. I find it very difficult to relate to code names and little redmen (I actually thought about changing them all to my pic, but then didn't know if the other members would know which one was really me.)"

Now I can't even find me. Feel like I'm walking through the house of mirrors at the carnival.

Yer a sick, sick puppy. LOL

Thank you Tom. I couldn't agree more.

iKC is in actually about the people, as collectors. I find it very difficult to relate to code names and little redmen (I actually thought about changing them all to my pic, but then didn't know if the other members would know which one was really me.)

If anyone here needs help posting a picture- email me: scott@iknifecollector.com and I'll walk you through it. Get you a picture first and then shoot me a message.

Last point, there are many here with an established identity on youtube or another social network using a nickname, please feel free to use it along with your real name so the other folks here will still know who you are, for example, Scott King (elephanttoenailhunter).

Tom thanks for caring enough about our community to step up and make this appeal. I know your sentiment is well supported among the other iKC members.
