FOR ME I KNOW WHAT I WANT IN A HANDLE MATERIAL SOMETHING WITH A GOOD GRIP. SO I GUESS FOR ME A FAVORITE WOULD BE G-10 HANDLES, SO THERE IS NO SLIP OR VERY LITTLE SLIP WHEN I AM CHOPPING WOOD OR WHEN I'M CAMPING AND HUNTING.
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I LOVE THE LOOK OF BEAUTIFUL WOODS. SO I GUESS YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE TWO FAVORITE'S ONE FOR THE USER KNIFE AND ONE FOR THE COLLECTOR KNIFE.
WHAT DO YOU GUY'S THINK? IS THERE A FAVORITE HANDLE FOR YOU? OR DO MOST OF YOU THINK THE WAY I DO... ONE FOR THE USER AND ONE FOR THE COLLECTOR? ALSO I JUST GOT A KNIFE WITH LINEN MICARTA HANDLES. THEY ARE ALSO GOOD FOR GRIP..HMMM CAN YOU JUST PICK ONE?

Stephen- my two favorite knives are my Randall Camp knife (model 5) which has a beautiful stag handle but I also love my custom hand made caping knife with a plain wood handle. In axes, I'll stick with my Granfors Bruk Small Forest Axe with a 19" hickory handle. Those are my favorites for practical camp use. I am pretty much into basics, I guess but I wouldn't by any means discount any of the more modern materials. I still always carry my Buck Stockman which has a simple phenolic handle and that has been with as a useable tool for everyday chores for 40 years.
I prefer a beautiful wood both as a user and as a collector. Donnies favorite is the smooth bones and the bark buffalo horn as collectors. But as user he prefers bones with some type of jigging or natural areas of grip (stag or similar)
I like leather handle material
