The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Somewhere on another forum someone wanted to know what my "grail knife" was.
Now for me a grail knife is something that is nigh unobtainable. I don't mean just expensive, (or even expensive) but something that you'd have to seriously fight for to get it.
For me that knife was found when I saw pictures of a collaboration between David Broadwell and Burt Foster.
There's always been something about Subhilt Fighters for me. I've yet to own one but the looks just kind of draw me.
And then there's something about laminated steels. In particulair carbon steel between two sides of stainless just looks gorgeous to me when etched.
And carving on the handle....man...how I'd love to learn how to do that.
So here's my "holy grail" of knives. I don't know who owns it....I don't know what the price was/is. But if there's ever a chance of me owning this knife I'd do whatever I could to make it so. Without further rambling...here's my grail knife:
So what's yours?

Wow, thats a fantastic knife Stephen, love the scales.
Looks fancy Stephen, what folder is that?
this would be a start for a folder...
Alexander,
I dont think I have a "Holy Grail" Knife. As Ron put it in another area I kinda have a bucket list for knives. Ones I would like to own somewhere down the line.
A Famars, a Ken Erickson wharncliff and an original Tony Bose Pruner
Robert, that is Ivory. It's a Bose ivory Lanny's Clip. There's a production version of that knife coming out by Case this year as the Case/Bose collab. (No Ivory on that one though)
I love the look of those Treeman knives Robert. Have any pictures of yours?
I could go for a folder like that. Is that ivory? My favorite knife of all is Treeman knives. I own two of them, one is a medium 9" trailing point, leather and crouch stag handle. the other one is a 7 1/2" knife with the same feathers as the other. They both are made of 5160, vintage Studebaker springs, hammer forged into a couple of cutting machines. They have out cut and kept their edge against much more popularized and higher RC knives.
Tony Bose Lanny's clip.
A 52100 carbon steel blade and a long pull. Half stops and a Keystone shield.
Burnt stag scales.
