Syd, I don't have to agree on everything with someone to be friends with them. Shucks, I don't even agree with my wife on everything and she is my best friend. I am pretty sure we pretty much agree on knives and guns. And I think if we could sit down and discuss things we would probably find other areas of agreement. I actually enjoy discussing things with those I disagree with as long as it is a discussion instead of an argument or shouting match. If they are willing to listen to me about what I believe and why I am perfectly willing to do the same with them.
A few things about me. I have a CC permit now and do carry now. My EDC is normally a S&W Model 637 Airweight .38 snub and a Ruger LCP .380. I was a reserve police officer for several years some years back. I carried two weapons then too, my regular duty weapon and a backup. Back then both were revolvers, a S&W Model 66 and a S&W Model 36.
I am a retired electrical engineer and not long haired or long bearded. (I can only go 2 to 3 days without shaving or it irritates me so much I have to shave.) I am a proud grandpa too. Hey my wife likes Duck Dynasty! I love to hunt too and am anxiously looking forward to the opening of deer season on Oct. 15.
I live in Athens in North Alabama about 15 miles south of the Tennessee line. I-65 passes through Athens. Been down here 28 years now and I like it. I like the liberal knife and gun laws here in Alabama. And our deer season is 3 1/2 months long with a limit of a buck and a doe a day. There is a three buck season limit.
You mentioned the big freeze. Fortunately that doesn't happen too often down here. Our winters are generally fairly mild. Of course we do pay for it in the summer. During summer months 90's are the rule rather than the exception.
I understand about the kid and grandkid. My son and grandson live less than a mile from us. A team of wild horses couldn't drag us away from here!

Syd, I am in the central time zone. So you are only two hours older here. I don't want to age you too quickly!
