Thanks for the history. I have started researching, but not that one.
Yep - that's the one! It's a mid range knife that is growing in demand. When introduced, it was an inexpensive boot that had a level of quality because it was from Seki, Japan. These days, it's value is growing. No sheath? No biggy. As an investment piece, yea, it will make a difference. As a collectible - not that much.
Your's looks to be in great shape. Well done.
It does have Japan stamped on it.

Take a look at the picture and see if it is what you think it is. I haven't gotten to looking at it yet.
The Explorer 21-296...as in the Sting boot knife? Nice! With the bone grips, Seki Japan? OK - that one is a keeper. It's a boot, one can never have enough boot knives, and it's Seki.
