Interesting point of view offered by the gentleman. He described half stop as an option on a knife which might confuse someone. I view half stop to be a function of backspring pressure with squareness of the end of the tang. A blade with a square tang end is less likely to pass a 90 degree position with the frame as it travels open and closed than a rounded tang end. Older small pattern knives commonly have a more rounded than square tang end across the width of the tang. :)
