John, another Q. What are the scales made of? At first I was sure they are stag but I see other Uticas using delrin, did delrin come in a two tone look?

Michael- An old beauty !! Utica was started in 1910- The curved Utica tang stamp was used from 1910 up to WWII-However, that UTK WARRANTED stamp is generally considered to be one of the earliest, if not THE earliest stamps Utica used. Hard and fast info on early Utica tang stamps is a little sketchy- Some sources suggested the WARRANTED stamp is circa 1915. Therefore, I would say your knife is in the circa 1910-1915 range--- And yes , that is stag----BTW, do not confuse the UTK  WARRANTED  stamp with the UTK SUPREME stamp that  was introduced around 1924-- Yours is the earlier stamp.

Thanks John, by the way, what does  U T K stand for?

Michael--That is the $64 question-- I have yet to find an answer-- I assume the U stands for Utica and the K for knife or knives, but the T, if it is indeed even a T(could even be a stylized scale or balance) baffles me. Just know that these tang stamps are always referred to as UTK stamps.  Utica renewed the trademark about 2004 and started making knives again under the old UTK Warranted and UTK Supreme tang stamps in limited editions-- Perhaps, someone at Utica can enlighten us??
