Do you have any? Especially the U.S. made Schrade Scrimshaws?
I always like them. I know, they were delrin handles and the scrimshaw was impressed into the handles, but, they were an inexpensive way to have that scrimshaw look and they were just neat to collect. People at one time were really into them. (Taylor has continued with them to some extent, but, is it just me, or are the new ones just not as nice? Not as detailed and as good quality as the originals?)
You could collect them several ways. Buy the whole sets every year, pick a favorite theme, pick a favorite pattern, etc.
I collected mainly by theme (the animal). That would give me different patterns.
Another neat thing is they had the year on them.
A couple of originals..............

I wish I had all of mine back. But that's water under the bridge. Hind sight is always 20-20 :(

Schrade scrimshaws are the mainstay of my collection. I actually have four Schrade scrimshaws that were hand done by Frank Giorgiani. One was done for the blade forum schrade collectors, there were only 50 made, mine is #12 And me most prized Scrimshaw was a prototype that I bought from Frank Giorgiani two years ago, He sent me all the original paperwork and a note from him to me about the knife. I still get giddy everytime I look at it. I would be happy to share photos and info. with you regarding Schrade scrimshaws if you would like. Dont find many Schrade scrimshaw collectors these days. I almost talked my way into a dye that was used to press the scrimshaw into the handles but it didnt work out but I'm not giving up!
Wow, great picture, really takes me back! I would love more pictures! Thanks John!
Those are nice Charles!
Very nice.. I think I still have a couple around here somewhere.. I couldn't handle Schrade and Camillus, so one had to go.
Camillus has always been my main passion, but Schrade has helped me pass the boring winters up in the sticks as I was looking for them on Ebay.
I like it Joe! Nice!
Hi all,
I have a Schrade sc506 scrimshaw with a squirrel on it. I have looked at old Schrade catalogs and I have not seen it there . Can anyone help me date it ? It is a Barlow style. I would be pleased to see everyone elses scrimshaws. I found a knife like mine on ebay , the only difference is my blade does not have the etching on it anymore. I will post the ebay pics now and take some of my knife later.
