The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I was running waaay late yesterday afternoon, but I still managed to run in and snap a few pics at the So Cal Blades Expo over in Pasadena, CA. I am actually red-faced and embarrassed to post this, but...I completely neglected to talk to the recently commissioned maker of this year's iKC Club Knife -- Mr. Jeff Mutz. If any of you get over there later today, Jeff is at table 134. You can get a map of all the Exhibitors as you first walk onto the floor. Truth be told, I got in there and started jawin' with some folks I'd met at last year's show and completely forgot to look for Jeff. Next year I'll make a point to thank him for making our Club's knives.
Anyhoo, here's a little collage I made from some of the pics I took yesterday...
I would like to give a special mention to Joe Girtner, a retired college professor, who, among other things, does some of the most amazing bead work on knives that I have even seen. Here's Joe holding a custom Damascus tomahawk that he designed and made. The handle on this piece has to be seen to fully appreciate how labor intensive it must have been. The beads were applied one at a time! And there are literally thousands of them!
And then there is the married couple of Tom and Gwen Guinn who come down from Santa Ynez each year with their collection of miniature knives. They are two of the most delightful people you will ever meet. Here is a pic I snapped of them...
There were so many great knife makers and knife people in general. I feel terrible that I'm only highlighting these two. I hope there will be some others from Southern California who can either get to the show today, Sunday, or have already been on Friday or Saturday and can post some more photographs. Maybe someone can drop by and say hi to Mr. Jeff Mutz on behalf of iKnifeCollector?
That's it from me for now. Cheers to one and all!

Well Ron I am awfully glad you had a good time. Thanks for the pics. Funny I always have a list of just what I am going to do at a show and three days later I have not finished that list LOL
Thank you Ron! A great look at the show, reports are it was well attended and lots of folks had a good time. If you had a week you might never get a chance to meet everybody! That is the amazing thing about knife collecting, just no end to it!
Wish I could have gone with you Ron my friend! I LOVE knife people....salt of the earth!
